In 1949, Prahlad Saha & his brother Nalini Mohan Saha took 11 ktahas of land from the then Zamindar Sudhir Chandra Das and started Beauty Boarding. It is named after Nalini Mohan’s elder daughter Beauty. From the beginning, legends of different classes & professions including poets, film directors, actors, intellectuals, artists, journalists have hung out here. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose & poet Jasimuddin came to this historical place before the independence of the country.

Beauty Boarding is situated in Shris Das lane, which was once surrounded by newspaper office, book binding shop, printing press, hotel & restaurant. Still Banglabazar, adjacent to this area is the largest publication & book market in the country.  In 1971, Pakistani Army captured 16 people from beauty boarding including Prahlad Saha and killed them brutally in brush fire.

From the front gate, a road leads to a central court yard beautifully decorated with different trees of flowers, provide you a heavenly feeling. Now-a-days this type of calmness with natural beauty is very rare in this busy city. The two-story building has the form of the capital letter T. There is a restaurant on the ground floor, inviting the guests with mouthwatering delicious foods. From breakfast to dinner, you will get Bengali Traditional foods over here. In the afternoon this place will be welcoming you with their famous Luchi & Alur Dom.
